Human Immunodeficiency Virus can be passed from a mother to her baby
during pregnancy, delivery, or breastfeeding. Early testing and
comprehensive prevention measures, such as antiretroviral treatment,
choosing the right delivery method, and using formula instead of
breast milk, can lower the risk of transmission.
